WSA Regina Firehall
Observation well WSA Regina Firehall was constructed in 1987 as part of the Regina Aquifer Management Plan. It was completed to a depth of 33.83 metres into Upper Floral Formation sands of the Regina aquifer. Monitoring of the well began in 1989.
In the past the City of Regina relied heavily on groundwater from several wellfields and aquifers to meet its water requirements. However, this use began to decline in the late 1980’s and by the late 1990’s had virtually ceased. This is reflected in the hydrograph for WSA Regina Firehall which has a minimum water level of about 557.75 metres occurring in 1991 followed by increasing water levels leading to a record high of just over 559 metres in late 2000. Water levels have remained high and are currently at around 558.7 to 558.8 metres.
Water from WSA Regina Firehall has a sum of ions concentration of 1570 mg/L and is of the Mg/-HCO3/SO4 type.
